Differential Responses of Cherry Tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) to Long-Term Heat Stress

چکیده
As global warming increases day/night temperatures as well frequencies of heat waves, studying physiological responses in long-term stress is required for sustainable yield production the future. In this study, effects on photosynthetic, morphological, and parameters three cherry tomato accessions, HR17, HR22, HR24, were evaluated. The experiment was conducted under two temperature greenhouse conditions, where set-point ventilation 30 °C 35 during day 57 days, respectively. Plants harvested 35th days 57th after treatments, their morphological characteristics traits measured. Under control HR17 HR22 had 0.5–0.6 harvest index, while HR24 0.3 index. On treatment, although loss percentage high (43%), it produced highest fruit among all accessions. However, longer yields accessions with smallest (34%). Furthermore, highly associated reductions nitrogen use efficiency water content plant body stress. results study will provide breeders a new insight into selecting heat-tolerant genotypes tomatoes.

Influence of Heat Treatments on Carotenoid Content of Cherry Tomatoes
Tomatoes and tomato products are rich sources of carotenoids-principally lycopene, followed by β-carotene and lutein. The aim of this work was to study the effect of heat treatment on carotenoid content in cherry tomatoes. Raw and canned products were sampled and analysed; furthermore whole, skin and pulp fractions of cherry tomatoes were analysed when raw and home-processed, in order to better...
متن کاملPartial Purification and Characterisation of Polyphenol Oxidase from Tomatoes (Solanum Lycopersicum)
Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) from tomatoes was extracted and partially purified through (NH4)2SO4 precipitation, dialysis and ion exchange chromatography. The activity of polyphenol oxidase was investigated in solanum lycopersicum. Spectrophotometric method was used to assay the enzyme activity and the kinetic constants - maximum enzyme velocity (Vmax) and Michealis - Menten constant (Km). Of the ...

متن کاملEthylene is involved in maintaining tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) pollen quality under heat-stress conditions
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Exposure to higher-than-optimal temperatures reduces crop yield and quality, mainly due to sensitivity of developing pollen grains. The mechanisms maintaining high pollen quality under heat-stress conditions are poorly understood. Our recently published data indicate high heat-stress-induced expression of ethylene-responsive genes in tomato pollen, indicating ethylene involv...
